Audi will spend on developing new models of 5.9 billion euros

On Tuesday, Audi announced plans to invest between 2009 and 2012 in its development 7.3 billion euros, of which 5.9 billion will be spent on developing new products and technologies. According to the German automaker, after six years the number of Audi models increased from 34 to 42, and will appear in a range of serial hybrids and electric. As the Audi Board Member for Finance and Organization Shtrotbek Axel, the first machines that extend the range of the company, will be compact hatchback A1, a big "five-door coupe" A7, A8 flagship sedan and a new generation of open version of a supercar R8 - Spyder. These cars will hit the market next year, and in 2011, dealers will do the first full hybrid Audi - crossover Q5 Hybrid. These models have been developed, and the allocated funds will be spent on modernization of traditional power plants, the creation of hybrid and electric cars. In addition, the companies intend to invest in the modernization of the enterprises in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm, a total of EUR 3.8 billion. The first of these will be stamping equipment for the model A1, the manufacturing capacity to A3 and A4, as well as a special center dedicated to transmissions and optimization of CO2 emissions from cars. In Neckarsulm investment will start production of new A7 and A8 and install equipment for testing engines.
