Audi presented the new compressor engine 3.0 TFSI

Company Audi, part of the group Volkswagen AG, has introduced a new V-shaped six-cylinder 3.0 TFSI engine with mechanical supercharger. As the press service of Audi, the engine will start series production in 2008. V6 engine cylinder capacity of 2995 cc direct injection (FSI) develops power 290 hp (213 kW) at 5,000 rpm and maximum torque of 420 Nm is available in a range from 2500 to 4850 revolutions per minute. The three-liter V6 designed to meet environmental standards "Euro 5", which will take effect on Western European markets in 2009. The engine is targeted at petrol brands Premium (complies with the Russian A-95) and Regular (corresponds to the Russian A-92). According to the developers, the car is equipped with this engine, will spend at least 10 liters of fuel per hundred kilometers. Unlike conventional compressor engine 3.0 TFSI mechanical supercharger is located just behind the throttle valve, where the density of the intake air compressor is much lower. This significantly facilitates the rotation of rotor supercharger, resulting in the compressor takes the motor less power. Compression ratio in the cylinder 3.0 TFSI is 10.5:1, which also plays an important role in its effectiveness. The total weight of the engine with the compressor is 189 pounds. The fact on which cars will be fitted Audi 3.0 TFSI is not reported.
